Mission Statement
We recognizes that new filmmakers are the future of movies. Rather than try to stop those
making violent movies, we encourage the production of non violent movies, and by our
example, we strive to influence all filmmakers. It is our mission to help new filmmakers
make non violent movies, while also encouraging established filmmakers to use their
influence to help reverse the trend towards ever increasing violence in all media.

What we do
We seek donors to provide funding for our operations and to provide production help
for new filmmakers.

We invite new filmmakers who have graduated from film school, or who have made 3
or more short films to submit scripts to our selection committee. Their scripts must
be non violent of course. If selected they are eligible to received a $1500 grant to
make their short film. This is quite adequate, if they have mostly volunteers as cast
and crew. This amount will cover camera and light rentals and other small expenses
and food.

To start, they will be paid $500. At the end of shooting, they will be paid another
$500. Upon submitting a finished DVD, they will be paid a final $500.

Filmmakers who have made 3 or 4 short films through our program, and who show
good promise, will be eligible to apply for seed money for a feature film. They will be
eligible to receive a grant of $10,000 to $20,000 as seed money to get started. They
will have to find the rest of the money for their movie on their own.

Those making short films will be required to pay half of their profits back to the Non
Violent Movie Foundation. Those making feature films will be required to pay back
a portion of their profits, based on what their total budget is. In this way, at least part
of the foundation's operating expenses will be self perpetuating.

All filmmakers will be required to mention the foundation in all advertising while
they seek cast and crew. Typically they will use craigslist. By including mention of
the foundation, it will create a lot of awarness with other new filmmakers, including
new actors and new crew people. Even if these ad readers don't respond to the ad,
they will have at least heard of us, and many will check out our website.

And lastly, filmmakers will be required to mention us in the credits, so that all who
see the films, whether it be on the internet, at festivals, on TV or in theatres, will
also see our name.

All of this will quite rapidly get us recognition and awareness, and media attention as
well.
